Gladiatrix II: In the Shadows of Darkness - Week 11 Update

During the first day of training at the Magalia Mage Academy, Master Lorik asks one of the students to demonstrate his technique with the fireball spell. He tells him to destroy the statue at the end of the training hall, but something goes terribly awry.
Module Progress:
  • I had some things come up this week so I didn't get as much building time in. I should be back on track now.
  • Still finishing up the Magalia Academy quests and the Badlands.

  1. There should be that one perverted male student that makes interesting spells like x-ray vision or "accidentally" burns/melts off all the clothes on a target or uses some medium like mirror or something to see anywhere so that he can spy on girls and maybe actually reach in and touch or increase arousal. The protagonist can catch him in the act and take those spells for her own use.

    1. Since it is an adult module there will be sexual intrigue of sorts at the mage academy.

  2. Oh seems to be a bit of magical intrigue, very promising =). Will the mage robes offer any stat bonuses to the character at all? I was wondering since Sierra gets her spells from the amulet.

    1. Thanks! The robe currently has an intelligence and AC bonus.

  3. Madam,

I still wonder, won't this Master Kilroy's high-level spellcraft allow him to see through the disguise? It shouldn't be any problem for him to screen (even silently) a suspicious, non-standard newcomer to find out the real source of their magical power. Or maybe he's not going to have a chance for that considering depicted events?

This time I can only pick on one thing on the screenshot - the hair. Everyone here sports overly fancy colors for my taste (even the teacher!). I know, they are mages so they have to be eccentric, but now they look no different from those show-off bards (apart from the costumes). Perhaps it would be more convincing if some of them were given a bit less flashy shades?

  4. In my story, Shroud arcane experts designed the amulet to emit energy signatures that would deceive anyone trying to read her aura. So it's the spellcraft of intel vs. the headmaster's spellcraft. They might be suspicious of her but they can't quite put their finger on it yet.

The hair coloring is just something I added as a fashion statement for wizards. It's an attempt to express their eccentricities and set them apart from the rest of the world.

  5. I like the unusual hair colours. makes the mages stand out from ordinary people.

I especially like the green haired girl's outfit.

A 'pick your staff' scene similar to the one in Harry Potter when he picks his 1st wand could be funny. Where the PC enters the Staff storage room, and gets to play with various staffs which do different effects to either her or her surroundings. Eg change her hair colour, make her glow, create butterflies,

Just thought, how about giving her a Wand of Wonder but in staff form as her 'apprentice staff'? It's pretty harmless but has fun random effects item, which could show her inability to control normal magical staffs properly.

Of course she'd use the amulets abilities for 'cheating' but may be fun to have something like that to play with if she tries to use the staff she's been given?
